Fitness With a Purpose

Martial arts based fitness program designed specifically for adults over 45. Classes combine the benefits of stretching, strength training, aerobics, and stress management techniques.

The Fitness with a Purpose program is a unique and independant program specifically designed to meet the needs of adults over 45 – primarily the “boomer” generation in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Waterloo Region.

It’s no secret that the frequency and amount of our physical activity is directly linked to our overall health and well being. Conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, low back pain, respiratory problems, joint problems, etc., have all been shown to be positively influenced by a good overall level of fitness and stress reduction. An improved level of fitness combined with the acute body awareness that you will acquire during your training is sure to improve all facets of your life, both physical and mental. In time you will come to realize that FWP is as much a lifestyle as it is a fitness program.

FWP is taught at a much more relaxed pace than traditional martial arts programs and eliminates the more advanced techniques and technical aspects of training that many older adults find challenging. You will be challenged to improve but never pushed beyond your own physical constraints. Everyone is treated as an individual and there is never pressure to advance, only encouragement to improve.

Fitness with a Purpose is the culmination of my 21 years of experience studying and teaching Shaolin 5 Animal Kung-Fu. Agility, balance, aerobics, flexibility, relaxation, and self-defense are the hallmarks of this unique program. I am committed to the fitness needs of adults over 45.
